Deftest

Deftest collects nothing. Your jobs, invoices, payments, clients and expenses live on your devices and in your own iCloud — nowhere else.

That single sentence is the whole policy in spirit. The sections below spell it out precisely, because a finance app owes you precision.

What Deftest stores, and where

Everything you record in Deftest is stored in a database on your device. If you are signed into iCloud, Apple's CloudKit synchronizes that database between your own devices through your private iCloud database — a space only your Apple ID can read. The developer of Deftest operates no server, holds no copy of your data, and has no technical ability to see it.

What Deftest sends over the internet

Two things, and only these:

iCloud sync. Your data travels between your devices via Apple's CloudKit, under Apple's privacy terms. This is between you and Apple; Deftest's developer is not in that path.

Currency rates. To show indicative currency conversions, Deftest fetches daily European Central Bank reference rates from the free, open-source service frankfurter.app. This request contains no personal data and nothing about your finances — it simply asks for the day's rates, like opening a newspaper to the exchange table. As with any internet request, the service technically sees your device's IP address in order to reply.

What Deftest does not do

No analytics. No tracking. No advertising. No accounts to create. No email lists. No third-party SDKs watching how you use the app. Deftest does not know who you are, and it is built so that it cannot find out.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime license are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer receives Apple's standard aggregated sales reports, which contain no identity — no names, no emails, no way to connect a purchase to a person.

Crash reports

If you have opted into sharing analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with the developer. This is Apple's system, governed by your choice in Settings, and it contains no data you recorded in Deftest.

Support email

If you email support, that email — and whatever you choose to include in it — is the only personal information the developer ever receives, and it is used solely to help you and then let alone.

Your data, your exit

Deftest can export your complete records as plain CSV files, and back up everything as a folder of ordinary files that will open in any spreadsheet, decades from now, with or without Deftest. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes everything; there is no copy elsewhere to worry about, because none was ever made.

Children

Deftest is a business finance tool and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Deftest ever changes what is described here, this page will say so plainly, with the date above updated. The commitment that your records stay yours is the foundation of the product and will not change.
